Juvenile Petition(s)
The first step in bringing criminal charges against a juvenile is to file a petition with a North Carolina Court Counselor. A petition can be filed by either a School Resource Officer, Police Officer, Court Counselor, or Parent. A sample petition has been attached below.
Requirements of a Petition(s)
The Petition(s) must include the following information per the North Carolina Code 7B-1802 :

Juvenile's Date of Birth

Juvenile's Address

Juvenile's Parent's Address

Facts About Alleged Criminal Activity
Copies of the Petitions should be provided to the juvenile, both parents of the juvenile, the District Attorney, the Juvenile Court Counselor, and Defense Attorney
